125th anniversary of the

'Deutsche Baryt-Industrie'

We are celebrating the

125 years is a long time, an unreachable age for a human being

Companies, however, can grow that old and – every person’s dream – stay young at the same time.

Acting with foresight, sensibly weighing up risks, analyzing and driving forward the right developments and financial independence are important success factors for a healthy ageing process that also lends freshness and youthfulness to old age. DBI has succeeded in doing this so far and we are doing everything we can to continue to do so in the future. To celebrate this special anniversary, we have a number of events on our agenda and we are delighted to give interested parties the opportunity to get to know our company and our activities at an open day.

We would also like to invite interested companies, leisure groups and amateur footballers to take part in our anniversary football tournament, the “Baryt Cup”. This tournament is organized in cooperation with the SC Harz-Tor in Bad Lauterberg and we look forward to your participation!

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, SC HarzTor, in cooperation with Deutsche Baryt-Industrie, hosted a small-field soccer tournament, the Baryt Cup, to celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary. Six company teams and six recreational teams competed in two different groups for the top spots in their respective groups. Spectators were treated to barbecue delicacies, cool drinks, and exciting games.

In Group A, the team from Lauterberger Garten Service secured first place. They were followed by the team from the Parkhotel Weber-Müller/Malerbetrieb Eckstein sports club, ahead of Spedition NAVIS AG, who made the long journey from Hamburg especially to take part in the tournament. Fourth place went to Hungerland Lackierungen & Karosseriebau. Fifth place was secured by the team from Döbrich & Kohl, ahead of Deutsche Baryt-Industrie.

In Group B, the HarzTor United team came out on top. Second place in the group went to Uschis Stammtisch, ahead of Sportfreunde Chiller. Fourth place went to SG Thekenproleten. The graduating class of KGS Bad Lauterberg, who provided the spectators at the well-attended Augenquelle with delicious waffles and cakes, secured fifth place ahead of Team KomaKommando.

The subsequent placement matches were exciting. The two club referees, Yvonne Bockfeld and Lukas Unterberg, had their hands full. The tournament winner prevailed in a thrilling final match that went to a penalty shootout. HarzTor United was able to celebrate in the end and raise the trophy to the sky. Second place went to Lauterberger Garten Service. SG Parkhotel Weber-Müller/Malerbetrieb Eckstein was delighted to win the third trophy! The team prevailed against Uschis Stammtisch in the match for third place!

The fun and exciting soccer day ended with a small after-show party on the sports field, where the winner of the Baryt Cup – HarzTor United – celebrated into the evening hours.

Last weekend, Deutsche Baryt-Industrie Dr. Rudolf Alberti GmbH & Co.KG celebrated its 125th anniversary with an atmospheric summer party on the local mountain. In glorious weather, numerous employees and DBI retirees gathered to look back on the company’s long history of success.

Guests enjoyed the party in the picturesque surroundings of the local mountain. There was plenty of food and drink on offer: culinary delicacies and refreshing beverages ensured that everyone was happy. Entertainment was provided by various games, which were very well received – including table soccer, the classic nail game, and the popular Tschenga game.

The festive atmosphere not only provided space for convivial conversations, but also the opportunity to see long-standing companions again.

Deutsche Baryt-Industrie Dr. Rudolph Alberti GmbH & Co. KG celebrated its 125th anniversary with a festive ceremony. Numerous invited guests from politics, business, and society accepted the invitation to the company’s headquarters in Bad Lauterberg to celebrate this traditional anniversary together.

Moritz Ostenrieder, managing partner of the parent company Sachtleben Minerals, opened the event. In his speech, he highlighted the company’s development and its close ties to the region.

Guests of honor included District Administrator Marcel Riethig, Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier (State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Transport, and Construction), Dr. Volker Stuke (Chief Executive of the Association of Energy Customers, VEA), Mayor Rolf Lange, and Member of the State Parliament Alexander Saade. Numerous business partners and representatives from industry also took the opportunity to engage in personal exchanges.

A special highlight was the venue: an empty raw materials storage box was transformed into a stylish setting especially for the speeches. The ceremony was accompanied by music from the Lonau brass band, which created a festive atmosphere with traditional sounds.

The speeches emphasized the economic and industrial significance of the German barite industry. For 125 years, the company has been producing barite products for a wide range of applications—in particular for the paint and coatings industry, which is now its most important sales segment.

The thoroughly successful event came to a close with a rich selection of food and drinks in a convivial atmosphere. The anniversary celebration impressively underscored the role of Deutsche Baryt-Industrie as a reliable employer, innovative producer, and valued partner – both regionally and internationally.

With a cheerful family day on May 24, 2025, Deutsche Baryt-Industrie Dr. Rudolf Alberti GmbH & Co. KG kicked off the celebrations to mark the company’s 125th anniversary. Around 150 participants – employees and their families – accepted the invitation and spent an unforgettable day together on our company premises.

In perfect weather, a varied program was offered for young and old: Exciting company tours provided insights into our daily work, while the little ones could let off steam in the bouncy castle, at the children’s bowling alley or at the table football table – the latter, by the way, also provided great fun for the adults. There was plenty of refreshments on offer, including delicious food and cool drinks.

The party went on late into the evening in a relaxed atmosphere, with lots of great conversations and new contacts – all in the spirit of community and solidarity.

A special highlight was the presentation of our anniversary truck with a specially designed 125th anniversary tarpaulin – realized in cooperation with Spedition Sommer. A real eye-catcher and proud symbol of our long company history.

We would like to thank all guests and helpers for this successful start and look forward to many more highlights in the anniversary year!
