Originally established as a mining operation, the company is now internationally recognized as a specialist in the refinement of raw baryte from selected deposits.<\/p>\n<p>Until the late 1960s, the company was owned by the Alberti family, before being joined by Kali Chemie AG and Sachtleben AG. From 2004 onward, the company was owned by Sachtleben Bergbau GmbH &amp; Co. KG and Sachtleben Chemie GmbH. Since 2016, Sachtleben Minerals GmbH &amp; Co. KG has been the sole shareholder of Deutsche Baryt-Industrie GmbH &amp; Co. KG.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation of the baryte industry in Bad Lauterberg was based on regional deposits in the Harz Mountains, as well as other deposits across Germany. In 1900, Dr. Rudolf Alberti, a chemist and industrialist, acquired the company and began large-scale mining and processing of baryte ores.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1990, high-grade baryte raw materials have been sourced on the global market.
